Redeeming Myself

Just in time to redeem myself from my last post, I am honored to be a guest writer for Jocelyn at We Talk of Christ, We Rejoice in Christ.  Yes I know, I was surprised too. She is an amazing young mom, who being much more mature than me, writes about families, service and faith.  This month she is celebrating Family: A Proclamation to the World, a document written for and about families in 1995.  Every day she is featuring a different guest writer and her/his perspective on this amazing proclamation.  I am thrilled to be a part of it.  Please go show some love.

I've come over from your guest post - motivated to follow you. I'm always looking for inspiration to kick off a marriage related post for my blog. Many things touched me from your post but this flashes like a neon sign:

Telling women they can do anything a man can do and that it is beneath them to serve their man is a disservice to marriage.

I would a add that not only is it a disservice to marriage - it is an affront to God. It flies in the face of everything the scriptures teach about the roles of men and women.

Thanks for guest posting. I'm glad to have "met" you.

I'll head over.

Just a couple points.

Since I can't even remember your last foot rub, it will not be hard to return the favor 

While the marriage doesn't have to be equal in time or activity, it does have to be fair. So just as Linda supports me in my pursuit of personal interests, I also support her in her pursuits (ie, Book club, Girls Nite Out, a friends from high school weekend gathering, bloggers conference, etc.)

Roles for men and women are not set in stone and there can be some flexibility to meet the ever changing needs of the family. But the innate natures of sexes provide for some Divinely inspired attributes, gifts, and skills that should be highly cherished, developed, and utilized.

And yes, I'm still non-blogging!

I can't believe the Proclamation has been around that long. All my blog friends are guesting on Mormon blogs today it seems.
