The store was so beautiful and un-hamburger like. My SIL, who has luxurious taste, decorated every square inch. There were purples, greens and black and white accents. And a chandelier. Yea it would make me think twice about dripping my ketchup on the floor. It is so pretty it could totally count for a cheap date night.
And what do they serve at a McDonalds open house? NOT french fries and ranch dip. It was catered by Wolfgang Puck's restaurant. There were froo-froo appetizers and an open bar, in a McDonalds. Though we do not drink, the hubs and I tried to feel as fancy as the atmosphere as we drank our cranberry juice. When I recognized something that looked like pizza I snagged that too.
As we were taking a tour of the stainless steel kitchen, the WP chef was also there. He had on his chef smock and was having an intense conversation, in his European accent, with the store manager. She was showing him the ins and outs of the kitchen and how everything worked. He was fascinated. I was fascinated watching him be fascinated by how fast food works. At one point he was holding a frozen beef patty.
So the next time you go in a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, and they offer to supersize your meal, you'll know why.

That's too cool. I saw something on the Travel Channel about the best McDonald's in the world. Open bar? This could definitely qualify!!
I hope that the Hamburgler was wearing a beret.
I am so impressed! Please remember the little people as you get more and more famous!
Congrats to Doris. I love her!
NO WAY! So cool! I want to be your friend - you KNOW people!!!
that place looks amazing!
The place looks great. It seems weird to serve Wolfgang Puck at Mickey Ds. But I bet it was good.
I've been to McD's like that before...so nice you wonder if they're menu is the same as the others!
There's one in Fort Collins CO that has a fireplace in it, nice wood features, even a waterfall--I used to go there with my little yahoos and take a book with me. Heavenly I tell ya.
A little bit of luxury goes a long way. Best wishes to your family on the new place!
that sounds really fun!! I am totally jealous
you have McD's connections??? I might go if our McD's looked like that instead of everything looking like it was made from the slime covered plastic recovered from the ball pit.
My girls have been begging to go - it seems the current toy is Little Pet Shops... doesn't take much to convince them to eat frozen beef patties!
Hmmm, maybe that's one thing that doesn't have to stay in Vegas!
Thank you, thank you! I'm really excited to win the $50 CSN certificate. Ohhhhhh ... what to buy?????
Neat experience at your McDonalds. No, Canada does not have open bars at McDonalds! My baby just finished after 2 yr of working there and will be headed off to uni next week. I don't think I'll be frequenting Dirty Macks quite as much now!
Again - Whoooo about the CSN certificate. Do you need my mailing address? Send me an email and I'll get it off to you. (PS - I start vacation tomorrow & will be gone for 2 wk).
Those are the kind of connections my 4 year would kill for...if the open bar was unlimited chicken nuggets and ranch.
Wow what a fancy schmancy MCDs!
I want to know if there's a candy striped stripper pole. You're just a big show-off, you know. But when I come to visit you, I expect you'll take me there.
I think I would have rather have the nuggets.
At least it wasn't catered by Wendy's.
There was a McD's in Northern CA where we lived some 10 years ago and it was done up all fancy too. And I remember seeing a fancy one along our trek across the country when we moved here.
What!? I want a recount! I fur-sur should have won the gift cert. Boo-hoo! Sorry- i am just taking out my rage and jealousy over missing out on another Micky D's sponsered party. That's it! We're moving to Vegas!
