I have amusing conversations with my kids and overhear funny things almost daily. Here are a few of the gems...
I was going through a drive-thru with 16 yr old Man/Boy. There was a sign outside the drive-up window that said
"Condiments available on request"
Because the word "condiment" still sparks the 12 year old in me and makes me giggle, I said,
"Look honey they will give you condoms on request."
Without missing a beat the Man/Boy said,
"Mom, they just want you to practice safe lunch."
We were riding in a quiet car. No radio and dark outside. The 5 yr old says to his 8 year old brother,
"If you close your eyes and be quiet you relax."
(I did not know he knew how to do either).
I told my 12 year old TanMan he needed to get his Eagle Scout Award by the time he's 18.
He said, "18? 16! Because by 16 I'll be into girls and won't have time for my Eagle"
(glad he's pacing himself)
The TanMan was teasing the Co-Ed who was home for spring break.
"We celebrated the whole time you were gone!"
"Shhh you weren't supposed to tell her" I added.
"Yea, you know you cried," the Co-ed retorted.
TanMan said, "Yea we cried with cake in our mouths!"
(ahhh the love of siblings)
Co-Ed to TanMan "Have you hit puberty yet?"
TanMan, "Yes. Multiple times."
(heaven help me)
TanMan (as you can tell by now he has a very healthy self-esteem) said,
"If you blog about me the computer will explode in awesomeness.
(so I am going to sit back now and enjoy the fireworks)
Your kids are hilarious. And smart!
the "safe lunch" thing was stinkin' Hi. Lar. IOUS!
thanks for sharing all your kids "awesomeness"!
lol!! Oh, I thoroughly enjoyed this. :)
Life would be so very boring without kids.
That's a witty bunch you got there.
Our kids must share some genetic make up somewhere. Hahaha. Your kids are all awesome. "Safe lunch" I will never think of condiments the same again! hehe.
A the risk of making his head explode I will say, that was awesome.
Just had to quit stalking and bookmark your blog. As a mother of hilarious children, a huge Gilmore Girls fan, and a close personal friend of Reading Rosie, I just felt it was meant to be. Thanks!
OMH! I loved your kids' comments! So funny! I'm at work and laughed very hard, very out loud! We (Lisa & I) are looking forward to meeting you! Wait - are they going to be able to handle all that awesomeness at one time?
Your house sounds like FUN!
Hahahaha, I'm exploding with laughter!!! Hahahahah
Too funny. Watch your computer explode with awesomeness now.
I think your kids got their awesome sense of humor from their mom. Ya' think?
LOL! Thanks for the laughs today!
Yep, my computer has been exploding a good bit lately as well! We should get our kids all together. The similarities are scary.
Blog fodder families are the BEST! It's a blessing and a curse. Blessing for me (and thee), and since it's ALL ABOUT ME, (and OK~thee) that's all that matters. :)
Oh, my laws, this is hysterical! I think my oldest daughter has hit puberty multiple times too--and she's turning 13 next month. Heaven help me. :D
(Thanks for dropping by! And sheesh--no worries about commenting or anything else! My editor hat comes off when it comes to blogs, comments, FB, and the like. I make typos all the time--I figure I'm allowed! It's actual books and professional publications that make me crazy if they have errors.)
I love your description of yourself. It sounds a lot like.... moi. :)
Motherhood is easier with kids that make you smile, yes?
So funny! Thanks for the laughs! Sounds like you could be NBC's next great sitcom!
My favorite was about hitting puberty several times, but those were all AWESOME!!
I think your family needs to take the show on the road! Loved all the quips!
Well that's just perfect. you have some mighty clever kids. They get it from they mama.
